Centre News Update: May 9, 2013
We regret to announce that the Centre for Movement Disorders will be closing on August 31, 2013. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has been providing special funding for our multi-disciplinary team since 2002. The Ministry has notified us that it will no longer provide this funding after August 31, 2013..
What this will mean for patients is that the services provided by the multidisciplinary team of nurses, physician assistants, social workers and occupational therapists will no longer be available after August 31, 2013. All services not covered by OHIP, including telephone calls from professional staff, will be discontinued as a result of this government decision. Patients of the Centre have been sent notices about physician services after the closure.
While we will strive to offer you all services currently provided by our team of health professionals until August 31, 2013 please be advised that unforeseen changes in staffing and operations due to the impending closure may limit our ability to operate at our usual standard of business.
We would like to ask for patience in dealing with this difficult situation that will have a tremendous impact on our patients, their families as well as our staff.
